To celebrate the coming 100th Anniversary of Nanchang University and the Day of Confucius Institute, the Chinese Language Promotion Office of our institute and the Chinese Association for International Students jointly held the Chinese Character Writing Competition of International Students-I Love Ancient Poetry. This competition is aimed to improve the Chinese character writing level of the international students as well as enhance their appreciation and writing skills of Chinese characters.
The international students studying at our university responded actively to the competition. Under the guidance of the teachers of the Chinese Association, the participants meticulously wrote down their favorite ancient poems: Some transcribed well-known lines from famous poems like- How long will the moon appear? With wine cup in hand, I ask the sky; some copied out the catchy lines from The South of the Yangtze River- The south of the Yangtze River teems with lotus seeds. How dense and flourishing are the lotus leaves. Participants said that this competition had not only improved their writing skills of Chinese characters, but also given them a chance to enjoy some beautiful ancient Chinese poems, and that they had gained a lot from this event.
Teachers from the School of International Exchange served as judges in this competition. In the end, a total of 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 11 Awards of Excellence were produced. The winning works will be exhibited on the first floor of the the School of International Exchange.
