Bachelor of Arts in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages

I. Introduction of the Program

The localization of Chinese teachers is an inevitable trend in the development of Chinese Internationalization. The major of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (Undergraduate Course for International Students) aims to cultivate applied talents who have a bachelor's degree and are competent for overseas Chinese teaching and other cultural exchanges between China and other countries). The major enrolls foreigners holding senior high school diploma or above. Through four years of professional training and studies, students will get bachelor degree of Arts，have an international perspective, be proficient in Chinese, have a more broad view of China, be familiar with Chinese culture，have strong Chinese language and culture teaching ability, cultural exchange ability, be competent for Chinese teaching in overseas schools or educational institutions and be able to use Chinese in diplomatic, commercial, news, cultural exchange and other aspects of work.

II. Application Process

1.  Applicant Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, between the age of 18 to 28, be in good health condition, and have attained senior high school diploma.

Note: The applicants who are currently studying Chinese Language in our university can directly apply for transfer to this program .

2.  Registration Period  

From 1^st March to 10^th June, 1^st September to 30^th September

Applicants use the online application system http://apply.ncu.edu.cn to fill all the required information and submit documents.

(1) Application documents:

* Passport (valid for at least 12 months)

* The Highest Diploma

* Academic Transcripts

*Foreigner Physical Examination Form (within 6 months)Download the physical examination form from the attachment.

*No Criminal Record (within 6 months)

*Financial Statement (within 6 months)

*No Objection Letter and performance (transfer students only)

*Valid HSK Certificate (if available)

Photo (Requirement：named in own passport numbers, 2-inch color bareheaded photo on white background without border,at least 320x240 pixels,GPJ format.)

Notice：The documents with * must be a scanned copy of the original materials.

(2) Applicants please pay close attention to the application website and check the results.

(3) Applicants who are admitted will receive the form of Visa Application for Study in China (JW202) and Admission Notice from Nanchang University .

(4) Applicants who are admitted please apply for the student visa (X1 visa) from the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in your country with Related materials including the original copies of the form of Visa Application for Study in China (JW202) and the Admission Notice etc.

(5) Applicants who are admitted come to Nanchang University with the original form of Visa Application for Study in China (JW202) and the Admission Notice to enroll, register and pay the tuition fee punctually according to the date stated on the Admission Notice. Please be sure to enter China with X1 visa and do foreigner temporary registration with 24 hours after coming to Jiangxi province before 20 days that your visa will expire, otherwise you will be responsible for all the possible consequences.

III. Fees

1.  Tuition Fee：14,500 RMB/year

2.  Accommodation Fee

Nanchang University International Student Apartment provides harmonious, clean and comfortable accommodation for international students. Public kitchens and laundries are are provided in the apartment.

3.  Insurance Fee

800 RMB/person/year

IV. Scholarships

1. To reduce financial burden for some outstanding international students, the university has various scholarships for international students, including Confucius Institute Scholarships, Chinese Government Scholarships, Sino-Russian Humanities Exchange Scholarships, Silk Road Scholarships, Scholarships for Outstanding Foreign Students, Foreign Government Scholarships, Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarships, Inter-School Scholarships, etc.

2. Students who are currently studying Chinese Language in Nanchang University will get scholarship subsidy of 10,000RMB respectively as tuition fee in the 1^st and 2^nd academic year. After deducting the paid tuition fee of 4,500RMB, students should pay the 2^nd academic year remaining tuition fee 4,500RMB in advance to enroll. Students only need to pay the accommodation fee 2,000RMB in the 2^nd academic year. In the 3^rd and 4^th academic year, scholarship will be evaluated on the basis of the student's academic performance, HSK scores and overall performance.

3. Applicants who aren’t currently studying in Nanchang University will get scholarship subsidy of 10,000RMB respectively as tuition fee in the 1^st and 2^nd academic year. Students are required to pay the remaining tuition fee in advance, which is 9,000RMB (4,500RMB/year) and accommodation fee of 4,000RMB (2,000RMB/year) to enroll for the 1^st and 2^nd academic year. In the 3^rd and 4^thacademic year, scholarship will be evaluated on the basis of the student's academic performance, HSK scores and overall performance.
