NCU Wins Awards in 6th “My Beautiful Encounter with China” Essay Contest for International Students in China

Recently, the results of the 6th Essay/Short Video Contest for International Students in China, which was sponsored by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education (MOE) and organized by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), was announced. In the contest, international students of NCU were awarded two Outstanding Works and two Honorable Mentions; two NCU mentors were awarded the Excellent Mentor Awards; and NCU was awarded the Excellent Organization Award.

AKBAR NYONG HUSAIN, a NCU international student from Indonesia, was awarded the Outstanding Work for his work, Chinese Dream and Love for Chinese Language. And LINA KAMEL ABD-ELRAHMAN AL-QURA’AN from Jordan was also awarded the Outstanding Work for her work, Knowing, Encountering and Understanding China. HASEEB ABDULLAH and SEHRISH NAZ from Pakistan were awarded the Honorable Mentions.

The contest received more than 500 works from over 100 universities including NCU, and 60 prize-winning works were selected, including 5 first-prize works, 8 second-prize works, 16 third-prize works, 31 outstanding works and several honorable-mention works. The prize-winning works will be included in a book called My Beautiful Encounter with China – Collection of Outstanding Works of 2022 Essay Contest for International Students in China and published by the People’s Daily Press, and the works will also be published by several platforms, including CHISA and Study in China. The contest aims to promote people-to-people exchanges among young people from different countries, show how excellent the international students from different countries are, tell what the real China looks like, and convey the real story of China from the perspective of international students.
