International students shall apply for a visa at the Chinese embassy or consulate in the host country. The documents required when applying for a visa include your valid regular passport, admission letter, Confirmation Form for Study in China (also known as the JW201/JW202 Form) or the Information Form for Foreign Students' Short-term Visit (also known as the DQ Form). Those who will study in China for more than 180 days (including 180 days) shall enter the country with an X1 visa. Those who will study in China for less than 180 days shall enter the country with an X2 visa. Please note : The X1 visa is valid for 30 days. X1 visa holders must apply for residence permits within 30 days of entry to legally stay in China. Therefore, NCU recommends that international students should come to China at the prescribed time, because residence permits can only be applied after registration at the university.
