
On December 3, the first “InternationalSeminaron Chinese Poetry Creation” was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. Theseminarwasjointly hostedby theWorkingCommittee on Poetry in Higher Education InstitutionsoftheChinese Poetry Society, theWorkingCommittee onModern and ContemporaryPoetryResearchoftheChinese Poetry Society, and the Institute of Chinese Poetry Creation of Shanghai University andorganizedby the School of Humanities ofNCU. Theseminarwas available both online and offlineand was broadcast live to the public through TencentMeeting (or VooV Meeting)andNCU’sofficial WeChat Channel.
Prof. Chen Yeguang,CAS AcademicianandPresident ofNCU, Prof. Wang YumingfromTsinghua University,CAE AcademicianandDirector of the Working Committee on Poetry in Higher Education Institutions oftheChinese Poetry Society, Prof. Cao XinhuafromShanghai University,VicePresident of Chinese Poetry Society andDirector of the Working Committee onModern and ContemporaryPoetry Research oftheChinese Poetry Society, and Prof. Han YiyunfromBeihang University,Secretary-General of the Working Committee onModern and ContemporaryPoetry Research oftheChinese Poetry Society, delivered speeches. Academician Zeng Qingcun,winnerof the Highest Science and Technology Award, Academician Gao JinjifromBeijing University of Chemical Technology, and Academician Liu HefromCNPC Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development sat in on the seminar online.
The current situation, methods and achievements of contemporary poetry creation, theories of classical Chinese poetry creation, poetry appreciation,on-campus poetry education, regional poetry creation and many other importanttopics were discussed in the seminar. Prof. Wang Yuming analyzed in detail thetone pattern, rules and formsof TianJing Sha; Prof. Zhong Zhenzhen from Nanjing Normal University explained the use of rhyme in today’sverses; Prof. Jin Zhong from Xi’an Jiaotong University discussed themeaningand characteristics ofthe tone patternin classical poetry; Mr. Shi Shuangyuan,Director of the Sydney HSK Centre in Australia, emphasized the interestingness of teaching and disseminating poetryin the contemporary era; Dr. Hu Shanbing fromour universitysummarized the “Same Tune Comparison Method”for the study on Ci-poetry.In addition, Prof. Cai YifromNanzan University in Japan, Prof. Shen Jiazhuang, foundingPresident of theCanadian Chinese Poetry Association, Ms. TianDuan,President of the Overseas Poetry Society in the United States, Mr. Zhu Xiaoting,President of the Translation Agency and Rhein Publishing House inDusseldorf, Germany, and Prof. Lin Liang’efromUniversiti Tunku Abdul Rahman in Malaysia introduced the overview of the creation of Chinese poetry in many countries and regions, including Japan, Canada, the United States, Europe, and Malaysia.
Thisseminarbuilt a bridge of communication between scholars and poets,higher education institutionsand society,Chinaandthe world,as well asclassicalpoetryand modernpoetry. Through thisseminar, the veil of contemporary Chinese poetry creation was unveiled, and the future path of Chinese poetry creation and promotion was clarified.Based on this seminar, the School of Humanities ofNCUwillstrive to makeNCUabase of importance forpoetry creation and research,firmly establish culturalconfidence withconcreteactions, andcontributes tothe great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Famous experts and scholars from domestic and foreign universities, research institutes and publishing houses, teachers and students from the School of Humanities, and researchers and enthusiasts of poetry creation at home and abroad participated in the seminar online or offline. According to incomplete statistics, up to the closing of the seminar, the number of people watching the seminar live reached more than 20,000, and the number of likes reached more than 16,000.
