法国普瓦提埃大学孔子学院是由南昌大学、法国普瓦提埃大学和深圳中兴发展公司三方合作建立的法国第一所孔子学院。在汉办的支持与三个创建方的努力推动下，2005年10月普瓦提埃大学孔子学院挂牌。目前，法方投资的孔子学院新教学办公楼正在建设之中，预计于2009年投入使用。普瓦提埃大学孔子学院自创办以来，整合优势资源，与全法远程教育中心共同开发远程中文教学新教材，网上中文课堂。
普瓦提埃大学孔子学院2007各类汉语班招生人数为122人，Montmorillon书法基地，为中小学生和社会各阶层人士提供书法学习课程和演示，2007年的培训人数为1273人，“书法--中国文化体验初级班”的学员903人，“书法--中国文化体验高级班”学员为370人。全法远程教育中心招收远程中文学生350人。
普瓦提埃大学孔子学院成立以来，举办了系列讲座，讲座内容有：话说汉字（从甲骨文到简体字）、谈民俗（中国节日和风俗）、学历史（中国历史与名胜古迹）、品美食（中国美食文化和餐桌礼仪、赏茶艺）、（茶文化和茶马古道）、游山水（中国地理和旅游）、听古乐（中国名曲、京剧鉴赏）、太极拳入门、中国现代礼仪、中国美术与书法、孔子思想与中国人的精神、中国新农村建设、教育的全球化和孔子学院、法国企业在中国的投资，经世济用：中国儒家精神等。
普瓦提埃大学孔子学院策划并参与主办了两次大型文化推广活动：2006年的中国文化博览会Exposition “la Chine”，86400人参观了博览会，体验了中国文化。2008年的中国节为期三周，由法国前总理拉法兰揭幕，为本地和周边地区的法国居民提供了一次丰富的中国文化盛宴。
2007年12月，普瓦提埃大学孔子学院策划、出版了“外国人巧学汉字”一书，深受汉语学习者的喜爱。“山水精神—体验唐诗”一书于2008年10月在法国和中国同步出版，结合了唐诗和书法,体现了中国人“天人合一”的审美观。和远程教育中心共同开发的“远程中文教程”向全球法语区的中文学习者提供全新的汉语学习教程。
普瓦提埃大学孔子学院成立以来，得到国家汉办的大力支持。三方合作方通力合作，积极投入人力、物力，并成功召开5次理事会。法国普瓦提埃大学正在建设孔子学院专用楼，并且在重大文化推广活动中积极争取当地政府的资助。南昌大学积极选拔外派教师，并且为普瓦提埃大学的活动积极筹备，提供展览资源和教学资源，派出民乐团赴法国专场演出。中兴公司投入远程教学设备，并资助大型文化推广活动。

Confucius Institute at the University of Poitiers(France) is the first one in France. It is jointly established by three parties - Nanchang University of China, University of Poitiers, France and Shenzhen ZTE Development Company, China. In October of 2005, Confucius Institute of University of Poitiers was officially established. Currently, the new teaching building of Confucius Institute invested by French government is under construction, and it will be put into use in 2009. Since its establishment, Confucius Institute at University of Poitiers has taken advantages of all possible resources and worked closely with Distance Education Center of France (CNED) in developing new teaching materials and online Chinese courses.
In 2007, our Chinese program in Confucius Institute at University of Poitiers has enrolled 122 students. In the same year, 1,273 students have participated in our Calligraphy – Chinese Cultural Experience Program. Among these students, 903 participants have attended elementary experience class and 370 participants have attended advanced experience class. Meanwhile, the Distance Education Center of France (CNED) enrolled 350 students in their distance education program.
Since it was established, our Confucius Institute has offered a variety of lectures including the History of Chinese Characters: from the ancient characters on bones and shells to simplified characters, folk arts and customs, History, food, tea, sceneries, ancient music, Chinese fine-arts and calligraphy, Tai Chi, Confucius and Chinese philosophy, new county construction, globalization in education and Confucius Institute, investment in China for French company, etc.
The Confucius Institute at University of Poitiers has planed and co-funded 2 major culture promotion events - Exposition “la Chine” in 2006 which attracted over 86,400 visitors and 3- week Chinese Festival in 2008, which was opened by Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Former Prime Minister of France. These events represent a great opportunity for the local French people to experience the rich Chinese culture.
In December 2007, Confucius Institute at University of Poitiers planed and published the book Chinese in Picture- alive character, extremely popular among Chinese learners. In October 2008, another book the echo of nature- experience of Chinese poems was published in both France and China. This book combines Tang Poems and Chinese calligraphy, and features the Chinese Nature and People in One Philosophy. Furthermore, Distance Learning Course developed with Distance Learning Center provides all-new Chinese learning opportunities for French-speaking community all over the world.
Confucius Institute has got the great support of the Office of Chinese Language Council International since it was established. Three partners have made great efforts to hold five board meetings successfully. University of Poitiers is building the offices and teaching building of the Confusions Institute and very active in promoting major culture events and applying for aid from local government. Nanchang University made great efforts in selecting language teachers and providing resources for exhibitions and activities. The folk music delegation from Nanchang University has been sent to hold concerts in France. ZTE-D has invested in Distance learning equipments and funded major culture promotion events.
Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Former Prime Minister of France, praises Confucius Institute at the University of Poitiers as a bridge of friendship between Chinese and French people when he was visiting Confucius institute.
